Exciting News & Dragonwell Season

Posted on June 20 2024

These past few months have been invigorating for me. These blogs date back to 2022, which means I started this site 2 years ago. Yes, that means this shop has been sitting in my drafts for TWO WHOLE YEARS. During that time, I have gone through many countries, tea farms, and versions of myself and yet -- this vision still remains, stronger than ever. I've decided to stop chasing this state of perfection and share some teas with you all. I will take this seriously by not being so serious. Look out for launch news very, very soon!

In tea news, my favorite tea harvest season passed a couple months ago - Dragonwell season! 🐲 A few fun facts:

First Flush Harvest: The first harvest of Dragonwell tea, known as the "first flush," occurs around the Qingming Festival (April 4-6). This period is crucial because the young leaves are at their peak freshness and quality

Flavor and Aroma: Qingming Dragonwell tea is prized for its fresh, vibrant taste and fragrant aroma. The early spring leaves contain higher concentrations of amino acids and nutrients, resulting in a sweeter, more umami flavor compared to later harvests.

Limited Availability: Due to the short harvesting window and labor-intensive hand-picking process, Qingming Dragonwell tea is produced in limited quantities. This rarity adds to its value and desirability among tea connoisseurs.

Cultural and Historical Importance: Dragonwell tea has a long history and is deeply embedded in Chinese culture. The tea from Hangzhou, especially from the West Lake region, is considered one of the finest. Qingming Dragonwell tea is often gifted and enjoyed during important occasions, reflecting its esteemed status.

Every year, we get fresh batches brought to us from Hangzhou, China and it's the perfect pairing when you need a light, nutty green tea during hot summer days!
